Turtle bread

A great project for little ones…

I drew a basic turtle shape on the underside of a piece of wax paper and then gave each little person a chunk of dough. They placed arms legs head and tail on the drawn outline and used the remaining dough to form a ball that was flattened out on top holding everything in place. Dried cranberries, raisins, pumpkin and sunflower seeds to decorate. A sharp knife to make a cross hatch pattern. Then set aside to rise. (We also made a few snails with extra dough.) An egg wash of an 1 egg beaten with a couple tsp water and everybody took a turn using a pastry brush to paint their creature with the wash. Then we popped them in the oven.
